Homestead's Sai Shamyant Boda Competing to Win a Place at the International Mathematics Olympiad

In November, Homestead Junior Sai Shamyant Boda and 50,000 other students took the American Math Competition (AMC) Exam. From that exam, Shamyant and 6,500 students qualified for the second level test called the AIME. Even though school was cancelled, Shammy came to Homestead on a snow day in February to take that 3-hour exam.
Just 250 students nationwide advanced to the next level and yes… Shammy is one of them. He will soon be taking the USAMO exam with the hope of qulifying for the International Mathematics Olympiad Team… an honor that will go to the Top 6 from this round of testing.
This exam is a six-question, two-day, 9-hour essay/proof examination. You read that right. Nine hours!
Shammy has spent countless hours on his own time to prepare for the topics covered on the exam, which are not taught in a typical high school mathematical sequence.
When you see Shammy, congratulate him for representing Homestead at this highest level of mathematics… and wish him well as he tackles the United States of America Mathematical Olympiad Exam on March 19th and 20th.
