Robotics Club

Description of Club:

Olympus Robotics – Team 4982 is Homestead High School’s robotics team/club. We are an officially registered team with FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) and compete in the First Robotics Competition (FRC). Every year, on the first Saturday in January, FIRST announces the year’s event during a web broadcast that is hosted by NASA. Once the broadcast is completed, teams have 6 weeks to design, prototype, build, program, and practice operating their robot for the season. At the end of the 6 week “build season” teams take their robot to district or regional competitions, trying to earn an invitation to the FIRST Championship in St. Louis. Our district events for this year will be in Indianapolis and Kokomo during March and April of 2015, with the FIRST Championship being at the end of April 2015. Student team members are involved in every aspect of this program to include: mechanical design, electrical design, programming, fabrication and construction, marketing, fund-raising, and all activities at the actual competition events.
