Nearly 100 Homestead High School (HHS) students have spent the last four months preparing to teach their peers, their families and the community more about the world’s cultures. Their method of instruction: food.  On February 13, students will transform HHS’ cafeteria into an around the world tour during the fourth annual A Taste of Homestead

With six continents and 25 countries represented, guests will have the opportunity to learn more about a country from student presenters while enjoying samples of the country’s food, music and traditional garb. Doors are open Tuesday from 6-7:30 p.m. Guests should enter through Door 1 – HHS’ main entrance. A Taste of Homestead is free and takes place during Homestead’s “Just Because Week”.  Guests are asked to bring a canned food item to donate to a local food bank.

Homestead’s World and Classical Languages clubs collaborated to start the event in 2015. Since then, the program has expanded and now includes all Homestead students.

For more information about Tuesday’s event, you may contact Justin Peeper, Chair, HHS Department of World and Classical Languages at jpeeper@sacs.k12.in.us.
