Any Latin student or former Latin student at Homestead, Summit, or Woodside is invited to join Junior Classical League.

Time Commitment:

Students can commit any time available for JCL, as little or as much as you want.

Procedure for Joining:

Students wishing to join JCL should pick up a registration form in Room 607 and submit it to Ms. Grundtisch with $15.00 for dues. These dues include local, state, and national membership fees.

Description:

Junior Classical League members build scholarship, leadership, fellowship, and service by participating in monthly club meetings, service projects, local and state competitions, state and national conventions, and educational field trips with other Classics students. Students compete at conventions in a wide variety of contests, including academic tests, art projects, and public speaking. Our club has earned many top awards at the state level, including 2nd place in sweepstakes and over 85 individual awards in 2014. Numerous Homestead students have held state and national offices in JCL, and many have gone on to hold offices in the Senior Classical League while in college.

Meetings are held in room 607, usually on Tuesdays, from 2:40- 3:30 PM. Certamen practice takes place every Thursday from 2:40 to 3:30 PM and project work time is on Tuesdays, same time. Students participate in local and state activities year-round.
